Ethan Shumate, a senior at North Surry High School, has been named a member of the Park Scholarships Class of 2023 at North Carolina State University.Įthan is the son of Lori Griffith and Eddie Shumate of Mount Airy.Įthan will graduate from North Surry High School where he is president of the student body, a National Honor Society member, and is vice president of the technology club at Surry Community College.Įthan also interns as a software developer at Advanced Electronic Services and recently organized a school fundraiser for the local Sheriff Graham Atkinson’s Give a Kid a Christmas campaign that raised more than $8,000.
